An Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) torch can be a costly consumable item requiring regular maintenance and replacement, particularly with aggressive sample matrices, such as hydrofluoric acid (HF), organic solvents and high total dissolved solids (TDS).
The patented D-Torch is a revolutionary demountable torch design from Glass Expansion. The D-Torch uses high precision engineering to provide the benefits of a fully demountable torch, such as lower running costs, chemical inertness and configurable injector geometry without compromising usability, performance or durability. Compared to other conventional torches, the D-Torch offers:

Helix CT (ConstantTorque) Spray Chamber
The spray chamber is a crucial component of the ICP sample introduction system since it has a profound effect on transport efficiency, precision, and washout. Glass Expansion revolutionized spray chamber design with the Tracey and Twister single-pass and double-pass cyclonic spray chambers, providing improved transport efficiency and reduced washout. Glass Expansion’s unique Helix CT nebulizer interface features an inert PTFE seal to eliminate dead-volume giving quicker washout and higher sample throughput.
The Glass Expansion cyclonic spray chambers for the NexION ICP-MS have a:
- Double-pass Twister™ version with central baffle that rejects large droplets from the nebulizer aerosol for best short-term precision and lowest interferences
- Single-pass Tracey™ version for the highest sensitivity
Vertical wall design that improves transport efficiency and short-term precision by ensuring smooth drainage of excess sample - Positive stop on the Helix CT nebulizer interface ensures consistent nebulizer positioning in the spray chamber for reproducible long-term analytical performance.
- Side-wall groove that improves drainage and prevents sample re-nebulization
- Inert PTFE seal (no orings) that cannot stick to the nebulizer and is easier to clean

High Efficieny Sample Introduction System for ICP-MS
